Works but clunky
This app works as advertised, but the user experience is not what it needs to be.
Example: Let’s say I need to rename a folder of images in the format myname-001.jpg through 100. When the folder is dragged over, the default is myname - 1.jpg (starting at 1, which will not be sequential when more thant 100 files are involved, and also with spaces in the file names which don’t work for my client’s web uploads). No problem, let’s go to preferences to change. When you do this, the folder you dragged over is now dumped, so you need to drag it again. Ok, I can live with this… After a couple of trial and errors, the preferences are finally set as I like. Files renamed, perfectly as advertised. Let’s go to the next folder. But how?? The icon that I dragged the file to does not seem to appear again. Ok, I’ll close the app and drag again. Except now, all the stuff I set up is gone, and the file number across directories is now reset at zero.
My point is that this app works as advertised, and I noticed that it will rename photo files with meta data if desired. This is truly unique. There are a lot of awesome features here.
Maybe there is a “correct” way to do what I did that I missed. It’s likely that I am just doing it wrong. But - when you design apps for the Apple ecosystem, the workflow should be so intuituive that instructions are not required. I think this feature filled app will benefit if the author can focus more on the user experience in the next version (and test it out on some non-techies).
